What profession do you admire most and why?

I think my answer would have been different a few years ago. I still really admire the NHS staff and know that they do an amazing job, work ridiculously long hours and for as very small wage. However I now think I admire teachers the most.

Anyone who can look after my children, 5 days a week and not kill them has all my respect!!! On top of that, they teach them things I never could and actually bring out the best in them. I bow down in admiration for them 😊

A quick reset of my kitchen!!

After 3 weeks of the children being off for the summer, my kitchen looked awful!!! They are constantly after snacks and wanting to help make food (which is very sweet but exhausting!) and everything just needed a going over.

Then they were out for the day with my aunt and uncle so I’ve blasted through the kitchen. I feel good!!! Who knew housework was so invigorating 😂

Here are the links for the things I used 👇

If you were going to open up a shop, what would you sell?

Me and my husband always talked about opening a book shop with a café on the side. He would run the book shop and I’d do the café (and all the baking for it). This has slightly fallen by the wayside as you need money for this sort of thing!! So I think I’d have to go with what I’m doing already.

I’d sell mine and my mom’s hand made crafts (found here The Gift Horse), my Scentsy stuff and Body Shop things. I’d really like a little room to run workshops in too – craft, tap dance, gentle exercise and maybe even throw a Body Shop or Scentsy party.

I think I need to look for some premises 😂

Prosecco day and a way to celebrate getting to your goals!

I saw a friend of mine do this on Instagram and absolutely loved it! So I thought I’d bring it to you as a way to motivate you to hit your goals. My friend had big life goals that she wanted to hit in 2023 (new job, new house etc) but this can work for any goal you have.

  • Grab 5 small bottles of Prosecco (or your drink of choice – baileys, coke, whatever!) and some labels, washi tape or a marker pen.
  • Write down 5 goals you want to achieve by the end of 2023. Mine are to hit my goal weight, make enough money in a month to not worry about the bills, be consistent in my businesses, be less grumpy and de-clutter under my bed.
  • Onto your bottles, transfer these goals. Mine are written onto matte washi tape and in a pretty colour.
  • Pop them somewhere you can see them every day.

These can be your motivation to hit your goals and when you hit them, open the bottle and have a drink! I’m just thinking this can work well with food too but I’m trying to lose weight so not so much for me!

Let me know how you get on with your goals 😊

What I want my blog to achieve….

Prompt: What change, big or small, would you like your blog to make in the world?

I really started this blog to try and earn a bit of money. This is yet to happen but I’m enjoying slowly getting into writing about my life as a busy mommy.

The more I think about it, the more I just want to show an honest picture of life in the UK and hopefully show people that while life isn’t always easy and peachy, there is always something to be grateful for or a way around things. And if I manage to earn a little something on the side, brilliant!!!

What’s the most money you’ve ever spent on a meal? Was it worth it?

This isn’t difficult for me and will be a short post today!!

The most I’ve ever spent on a meal is £75 and no, it wasn’t worth it!!! The meal was nice enough and the venue was lovely but I don’t think any meal can be worth that much. It is just food that anyone can buy. That might make me seem old fashioned or grumpy but I grew up with not much money and I’m still in that position now.

What happened afterwards was worth it though – my now husband proposed to me!!!

My orchid

This is not in any particular order but I think these 30 things are what I do to make myself and keep myself happy.

What do you do to be happy?

How would you describe yourself to someone who can’t see you?

I like this prompt!!! I always joke that I’m a million foot tall but I’m honestly not really!

I’m a 6’ tall wife and mom of 2. I have wavy, almost curly light brown hair thanks to a perm, dark eyebrows, brown, almost black eyes, a button nose (according to my husband but I’m not so sure!) and a normal mouth! I wear glasses otherwise I’m fairly blind!

I am not little!! I wear a UK size 20 but I am losing weight, I like floaty dresses, cardigans and sandals and I have thick thighs thanks to me tap dancing!!!

I try to be smiley but sometimes life gets to me and I get a bit grumpy so I have a few wrinkles around my eyes and mouth but absolutely no grey hair thanks to good genes 😊

6 things to do in Perranporth and the surrounding areas when it’s raining!

While I’m sat here looking at things to do tomorrow while it’s throwing it down outside! While I love the sound of the rain on the roof of a caravan, I’d like it to stop now!! But it means I’ve been able to have a look at different things around us and I’ve come up with a few things to do if you’re in Cornwall, it’s raining and you’re not flush with cash.

  • Perranporth museum. This is a little gem, it’s free to enter and the staff are lovely. There were a couple of different activities for the children to do too. It only took about an hour but that was enough to dodge the rain.
  • Royal Cornwall museum in Truro. This is an absolute find!!! Under 18s get in free and over 18s are £7.50 each all which includes a year long pass. There are activities and stations for the children to get stuck in to and loads of fascinating things to see. On top of that, there is a rail to hang your coat when you go in, stools to borrow, sensory bags and ear defenders for those who need it and in the toilets there are toilet training seats for you to use if your little one is too little for a normal sized toilet! I can’t recommend this highly enough!!
  • Healey’s Cornish Cider Farm – on first glance, this is a nice, cheap(ish) day out. You can add on all different types of extra activities which obviously add to the cost, but for a family of 4 with the ‘Book online’ discount it was only £30. The farm, tasting and general atmosphere was great and the cream tea was the best we had all week!
  • Swimming – the only problem we had with swimming was that there is only 1 pool in the surrounding area and you have to book. This meant we had a very sad Jonah when we couldn’t go on the day we’re just turned up. But we booked for the next day and it cost just shy of £30 for the 4 of us for 80 minutes. Not the cheapest but something that is always on our holiday to do list.
  • Truro cathedral – as a God botherer I love any church but this one felt special. From the minute you walk in the staff are helpful but not bothersome and the children’s activities are great. Jonah did 2 different trails which were informative and Grace did I-spy drawing where she had to find different things and draw them. There were a couple of other things to do but our 2 didn’t need more! We were in there for an hour and a half and not once did the children look bored. You can donate if you want to but you don’t have to.
  • Lobster Hatchery – we went really expecting much from this but we really enjoyed it. You get to see the pioneering work that happens to help conserve lobsters and you can adopt one if you want to too! It’s £7.50 per adult, £4 for aged 5-15 and a family ticket is £19.75. This is a 12 month pass too so you can pop back to see your new lobster friends!! There is a £5 ‘meet the expert’ available too but we didn’t manage this.

We’ve had a wonderful week despite the weather trying to ruin it and these places are just a little bit of the reason why.

What traditions have you not kept that your parents had?

This really got me thinking and I was surprised at the results! There are only a few things. Here are the things I don’t do anymore:

  • Sunday lunch. This was a big thing for us as a family – sitting down for a big roast dinner on a Sunday. But with Phil working some weekends and, if I’m honest, the cost of a joint of meat it just doesn’t happen anymore.
  • My Mom and Nan always hang up a hot cross bun on Good Friday to bring good luck (they take down the rock hard one from the year before then!). I don’t really see the point of this!
  • Fish Friday. We don’t have fish and chips every Friday!
  • Shopping on a Saturday. This was tradition as my dad used to work on a Saturday morning so me and Mom used to go to the shop and get everything for the week. Now I do it when we need it!

Now that I’ve written it out, it doesn’t seem much but these were big things which punctuated our week 😊
